The Freshman Mustangs pulled out a thrilling last-second victory against a strong Bloomfield team . Austin Schwartz hit a game-tying 3 pointer (off an assist by Kyle Rogers) with 30 seconds left, and followed that up by coming up with a steal on Bloomfield’s next possession. Rogers then drove to the bucket for the game winner with 3.3 seconds to go. For the game, Houston Holmes led the way with 17 points and 7 rebounds; Rogers added 12 points and 3 assists, and Cooper Thacker chipped in with 10 points. In addition, Nathan Bolin grabbed 5 rebounds, had 3 assists and led a strong defensive effort for the Mustangs in the second half.
Edgewood also dominated the ‘5th quarter’ that was played afterward, outscoring Bloomfield by a 21 – 6 margin. Eithan Jacobs scored 10 points in the extra period, and Ethan Vecrumba added 7 points (off of 3 assists by Chase Souder) and 4 rebounds.
