Monrovia High School
Edgewood High School
The Mustangs avoided a letdown a night after claiming the Western Indiana Conference Championship by solidly defeating Monrovia 68-48 at home on Saturday night. The win pushed Edgewood to 13-6 on the season.
The Mustangs jumped out early and fended off a couple runs from Monrovia for the wire to wire win. EHS led 18-8 after the first quarter, 38-23 at the half, and 54-38 after the third. Edgewood won every quarter.
Balance was the key for the home team. Senior Brayden Patton led scorers with 19, but senior Tanner Thomas chipped in 17 as well. Cole Cradick added 15, and Cooper Bybee scored 13. Freshman Joe Kido dished out 10 a game high assists. Super-sophomore Chayton Howard continued his return from the flu with 4 points, and senior Aaron Jacobs represented “flat-Aaron” well by knocking down a free throw.
Edgewood hosts Bloomington North at EHS on Thursday night.
