Edgewood built an early lead against North Putnam, scoring four runs in the first inning, en route to a 6-4 win on Wednesday.

Edgewood scored in the first on a two-run single by Ryan Pursell, an RBI single by Phillip Terrell, and an RBI single by Sam Saft.

Edgewood staved off North Putnam as North Putnam was unable to match Edgewood down the stretch.

North Putnam scored on an RBI double by Kaine Benge in the third inning, a wild pitch in the fourth inning, an RBI single by Bobby Scheele in the sixth inning, and an RBI single by Jack Kendall in the seventh inning. Still, North Putnam couldn’t catch Edgewood.

Terrell recorded the win for Edgewood. He allowed two runs over four innings. Terrell struck out four, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Kendall couldn’t get it done on the hill for North Putnam, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

Edgewood closer Ryan Stuffle put away the final nine outs to record the save.
