Meet Recap

It was a hot night in Martinsville. I was very impressed with the play from our doubles teams tonight. Both teams played very well and seemed to work together well. Two doubles had the closest match tonight. The first set went to a tie breaker and the second set was a tough 4-6 loss. Both girls fought very hard. They had to battle emotion and fatigue in this match. Losing a tie breaker is tough to handle, but they rallied back in the second set. I’m excited to see what both of our doubles teams will be able to accomplish next week and next year. The specific scores are as follows: at one singles Hailea Howard lost 0-6, 0-6 to Zoey Viewegh; at two singles Carly Bennett lost 0-6, 1-6 to Ali Viewegh; at three singles Jessica VanAllen lost 1-6, 1-6 to Karissa Wamper; at one doubles Allie Frye and Emily Birtles lost 4-6, 1-6 to Mason Tireg and Bethang Elmore; and at two doubles Elizabeth Babbert and Annabelle French lost 6-7 (4-7), 4-6 to Emily Seger and Kaylee Elmore. Overall, it was par for the course for us this year. We battled, but couldn’t string enough point together for a set. We came closer in this match than some of our other losses, but it was still tough to lose.
