Game Recap

The Edgewood Mustangs are the 2016-2017 Western Indiana Conference champions as they defeated Northview in a hard-fought 74 – 66 victory. Seniors Cooper Bybee and Jason Brown, along with junior Chayton Howard led the Mustangs as they successfully defended their WIC title.

Brown scored 13 of his career-best 16 points in the first half, including a buzzer-beating 3 pointer from the right corner to end the first quarter to put Edgewood up 22 -14. Not to be outdone by his fellow senior co-captain, Bybee led the way with 20 points, including two jaw-dropping, you-had-to-see-them-to-believe-them 3 pointers to end the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Howard also hit his share of big shots, continuing his recent, aggressive offensive play on his way to 19 points.

Rounding out the scoring for the Mustangs was Joe Kido with 8 points, Cameron Banister with 7, and Caleb Norris with 4.

Perhaps most impressively, Edgewood outrebounded the much taller Knights. Bybee and Brown led this category as well with 6 rebounds each, while Norris came off the bench to grab 5 and Howard had 4.
