Edgewood High School
Mitchell High School
The Edgewood Mustangs finished their regular season in strong fashion, posting a 72 – 38 victory at Mitchell. Edgewood jumped out in front early, racing to leads of 18 – 2 after one quarter and 34 – 4 at the half, then cruised to their 15th win of the season. The Mustangs defense forced 15 turnovers in the decisive first half, never letting the host Blue Jackets get comfortable on the offensive end.
On offense, the Mustangs were led once again by Cooper Bybee who scored a game-high 26 points. Bybee had plenty of help however, as 3 other Edgewood players reached double figures and 10 of the 12 Edgewood players who dressed found the scoring column. Chayton Howard had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Caleb Norris added 11 points and 6 rebounds, and Cam Banister also chipped in with 10 points. In addition, while not quite reaching double figures, Jason Brown contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Completing the scoring for the Mustangs was Tate Balcam and Houston Holmes with 2 points each, and Jayce Collier, Schuyler Curtis, and Cooper Thacker with 1 point apiece.
The Mustangs are off next week, but will then be back in action as they host Sectional play the week of February 28th.
