Game Recap

Edgewood’s season came to a heart-breaking end with a 73 – 71 loss against Northview in the Section Championship game. The Mustangs fought to the end against the bigger, stronger Knights, and almost overcame foul trouble to leading scorers Cooper Bybee and Chayton Howard (who both had 4 fouls for much of the 2nd half) and the loss of Caleb Norris (who got 2 teeth knocked out near the beginning of the 2nd half). In their absence, Joe Kido, Cam Banister, and Jason Brown all stepped up and made big shots to keep the game close and give the Mustangs a chance to win at the end.

Despite the foul trouble, Bybee once again led Edgewood in the scoring column, closing out his outstanding career by scoring 15 points in the 4th quarter to finish with 20 points. Kido scored 15 points in addition to playing an excellent floor game and anchoring the defense (including harassing the Northview point guard into missing 8 of his 11 shots). Howard also came up big, chipping in with a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds.

In addition, Senior co-captain Jason Brown finished his strong final year with 8 points and 5 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring for the Mustangs was Banister with 7 points, Norris with 4 points, Curtis Cowden with 3 points, and Houston Holmes with 2.

Though it didn’t end the way they hoped, congratulations go out to Seniors Cooper Bybee and Jason Brown, Coach Neill, and all of the Mustangs for an outstanding season.
