The mighty Mustangs track and field team competed at the Indoor state track meet held at IU on Saturday! The Mustangs were represented by 3 relay teams and 2 individuals in the meet! The Mustangs were able to have 2 people make the podium (Top 8 in the state), scored 3 total points and finish 41st in the state!
The 4×2 relay team (Hiatt, Cottingham, Holbrook, Hall) ran a time of 1:37.16 and competed well enough to finish 15th in the state!
The 4×8 relay team (Haskett, Banister, Kovach, McGlothlin) had a good run, besting their seed time by over 14 seconds, with a time of 8:45.39, and an effort that placed them 15th in the state!
The DMR relay team (Hasektt, Kovach, Banister, Cottingham) also had a good run and finished with a time of 11:35.14, which placed them 19th in the state!
Individual performances by Noah Bise and Ethan Vecrumba led to both of these young men being podium bound! Noah long jumped 20’1.5″ in only his second time of jumping in a meet! This placed him 8th in the state! Ethan was able to high jump 6’0″ and his effort landed him on the 7th place spot of the podium!
This meet provided many “firsts” for a lot of the Mustangs and the day was a success to say the least! We accept the results that we earned but we are certainly more motivated to continue to strive for excellence and push for another conference championship and to make some noise at sectionals, regionals, and the outdoor stet meet!!
