Edgewood High School
Edgewood jumped out to an early lead over Gibson Southern and took home a 14-6 victory on Friday. Edgewood scored on a wild pitch in the first inning, a error in the second inning, and a double by Josh Chasteen in the second inning.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Edgewood collected 11 hits and Gibson Southern six
Gibson Southern captured the lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Payton Bond drove in one run when he singled.
Edgewood took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Connor Morton hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, there was an error, scoring two runs, and Josh Chasteen doubled off of Dimitri Dewig, driving in one run.
Edgewood scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Phillip Terrell and a single.
Gibson Southern scored three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Gibson Southern came thanks to a single by Dakota Rogers and a single by Mitchell Spindler.
Morton earned the win for Edgewood. He tossed five innings, allowing five runs, six hits, striking out four, and walking one. Dewig took the loss for Gibson Southern. He went two innings, giving up eight runs, six hits, and striking out three.
Tanner Kolbe, Josh Parrish, and Terrell each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Terrell, Parrish, and Kolbe each collected two hits to lead Edgewood.
Spindler went 1-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with two runs batted in.
