Edgewood defeated Greencastle 16-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Joe Kido induced a groundout from Alex Johnson to finish off the game.
Edgewood grabbed an early lead. Edgewood scored on a single by Connor Morton and a single by Ryan Stuffle in the first inning.
Edgewood took an early lead in the first inning. Morton drove in two when he singled in the first inning.
Edgewood scored nine runs in the second inning. Edgewood’s big inning was driven by a walk , a error, a walk by Cooper Thacker, a single by Josh Parrish, and a error.
One bright spot for Greencastle was a single by Abe Wade in the second inning.
Ethan Vecrumba earned the win for Edgewood. He pitched three innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out eight, and walking one. Alex Johnson took the loss for Greencastle. He went one inning, surrendering eight runs, four hits, and striking out one.
Edgewood had ten hits in the game. Stuffle, Tanner Kolbe, Parrish, and Morton each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Stuffle and Kolbe each drove in three runs to lead Edgewood. Edgewood didn’t commit a single error in the field. Dylan Johnson had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.
Wade led Greencastle with one hit in two at bats.
