Bats were blistered as Edgewood defeated Vincennes Lincoln 10-7 on Saturday.
Edgewood captured the lead in the first inning. Josh Chasteen singled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring two runs.
After Edgewood scored one run in the top of the seventh, Vincennes Lincoln answered with one of their own. Edgewood scored when Josh Parrish singled off of Bo Deckard, driving in one run. Vincennes Lincoln then answered when Grant Oexmann doubled off of Cooper Thacker, driving in one run.
In the bottom of the third inning, Vincennes Lincoln tied things up at six. Tate Schuckman’s sac fly scored one run for Vincennes Lincoln.
Edgewood took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Phillip Terrell homered off of Zak McGavic, driving in two runs.
Vincennes Lincoln scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning for Vincennes Lincoln came thanks to a walk by Oexmann and a error.
Tanner Kolbe earned the win for Edgewood. He went three innings, giving up six runs, three hits, striking out two, and walking one. Thacker recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Edgewood. McGavic took the loss for Vincennes Lincoln. He pitched four innings, giving up four runs, seven hits, striking out four, and walking zero.
Schuckman started the game for Vincennes Lincoln. He threw one inning, allowing five runs, six hits, and walking one.
Home runs for Edgewood came when Terrell homered in the fourth inning and Ryan Stuffle homered in the first inning.
Edgewood collected 14 hits. Terrell, Chasteen, Kolbe, and Thacker each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Terrell, Stuffle, and Chasteen each drove in two runs to lead Edgewood.
Treven Madden went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Vincennes Lincoln in hits.
