Edgewood couldn’t keep up with Bedford North Lawrence and fell 11-2 on Saturday.
Bedford North Lawrence took an early lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Bedford North Lawrence.
Edgewood knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs in the third inning Phillip Terrell drove in two runs when he doubled.
Bedford North Lawrence took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Jackson Bartlett singled off of Terrell, driving in one run and Tanner McBride laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.
Bedford North Lawrence scored six runs in the sixth inning. Bedford North Lawrence’s big inning was driven by a single by McBride, a walk , a groundout by Austin Long, and a single by Brody Tanksley.
McBride earned the win for Bedford North Lawrence. He pitched six innings, surrendering two runs, eight hits, striking out five, and walking one. Terrell took the loss for Edgewood. He tossed five innings, surrendering five runs, six hits, striking out three, and walking one.
Edgewood had nine hits in the game. Connor Morton and Cooper Thacker each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Thacker and Morton each managed two hits to lead Edgewood.
Bedford North Lawrence collected 11 hits. Drew Hensley and Bartlett each collected multiple hits for Bedford North Lawrence. Bedford North Lawrence was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Tanksley made the most plays with six.
