Connor Morton didn’t allow a single run as Edgewood defeated Cloverdale 25-0 on Monday. Morton allowed just one hit and struck out Nick Smith to end the game.
Edgewood grabbed an early lead. Edgewood took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.
Edgewood took an early lead in the first inning. Phillip Terrell grounded out, scoring one run.
Edgewood scored 12 runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk by Dylan Johnson, a error, a single by Josh Chasteen, a single by Tyler Breeden, a error, a groundout by Terrell, a single by Evan Whitlow, a error, a single by Johnson, and a triple by Chasteen.
One bright spot for Cloverdale was a double by Parker Watts in the first inning.
Connor Morton earned the win for Edgewood. He threw five innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, striking out nine, and walking zero. Cooper Neese took the loss for Cloverdale. He tossed two innings, surrendering two runs, two hits, and striking out one.
Edgewood had 15 hits in the game. Chasteen and Cooper Thacker each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Thacker and Chasteen each collected two hits to lead Edgewood. Edgewood was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Johnson had the most chances in the field with eight.
Watts led Cloverdale with one hit in two at bats.
