Edgewood and Rockford played a taut affair on Saturday, but Edgewood eventually prevailed 13-5 after taking the lead for good in the fifth inning. The game was tied at five with Edgewood batting in the bottom of the fifth when there was an error, scoring one run.
Phillip Terrell led Edgewood to victory by driving in six runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Terrell drove in runs on a home run in the first, a single in the fifth, and a grand slam in the sixth.
Edgewood took an early lead in the first inning. Terrell drove in two when he homered in the first inning.
Edgewood scored five runs in the sixth inning. Edgewood’s big inning was driven by a single by Josh Parrish and a grand slam by Terrell.
Rockford scored three runs in the third inning. Rockford’s big inning was driven by a single by Trey Herblet and a groundout.
Tanner Kolbe earned the win for Edgewood. He tossed two and two-thirds innings, surrendering zero runs, zero hits, striking out two, and walking one. Brayden Durfee took the loss for Rockford. He threw four innings, surrendering six runs, seven hits, and striking out three.
Cooper Thacker started the game for Edgewood. He threw four and a third innings, allowing five runs, four hits, and striking out three.
Edgewood had 12 hits in the game. Parrish, Terrell, and Sam Saft each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Terrell and Parrish all had three hits to lead Edgewood.
