Edgewood took the lead for good in the fourth inning to capture a back-and-forth game from Cascade by a 3-2 score on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Edgewood batting in the bottom of the fourth when Joe Kido singled off of Cameron Ginter, driving in one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Edgewood pitchers struck out five, while Cameron Ginter sat down six.
Cascade took an early lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Mitch Duncan drove in one run when he doubled.
Cascade knotted the game up at two in the top of the second inning. Zach Jacobs singled on a 2-2 count in the second inning, scoring one run.
Edgewood took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning.
Connor Morton earned the win for Edgewood. He pitched six and a third innings, allowing two runs, six hits, and striking out five. Curtis Cowden recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Edgewood. Ginter took the loss for Cascade. He tossed six innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out six.
Ryan Stuffle, Josh Parrish, and Joe Kido each drove in one run to lead Edgewood.
Cascade had six hits in the game. Duncan and AJ Sanders each collected multiple hits for Cascade.
