Connor Morton gave Owen Valley fits, as he bagged four hits in Edgewood’s 14-4 victory on Wednesday. Morton singled in the first, tripled in the second, singled in the second, and doubled in the sixth.
An early lead helped propel Edgewood to victory. Edgewood scored on a single by Connor Morton, a single by Ethan Vecrumba, and a walk by Tanner Kolbe in the first inning.
Edgewood captured the lead in the first inning. Morton drove in one when he singled in the first inning.
Edgewood scored six runs in the second inning. Edgewood’s big inning was driven by a single by Phillip Terrell, a single by Vecrumba, a walk by Joe Kido, a wild pitch , and a single by Josh Parrish.
Owen Valley scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Owen Valley came thanks to a single and a triple by Drew Mauder.
Vecrumba earned the win for Edgewood. He pitched four innings, surrendering four runs, five hits, and striking out three. Chase Bandy took the loss for Owen Valley. He threw two-thirds of an inning, surrendering five runs, three hits, and striking out one.
Edgewood collected 16 hits. Morton, Josh Chasteen, Vecrumba, Ryan Stuffle, and Terrell each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Edgewood was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Stuffle had the most chances in the field with seven.
Mauder went 1-for-2 at the plate as he led the team with two runs batted in.
