Edgewood and Owen Valley played a taut affair on Tuesday, but Edgewood eventually prevailed 7-5 after taking the lead for good in the third inning. The game was tied at two with Edgewood batting in the bottom of the third when there was an error, scoring one run.
Owen Valley took an early lead in the first inning. Ryne Heckman grounded out, scoring one run.
After Owen Valley scored one run in the top of the sixth, Edgewood answered with one of their own. Owen Valley scored when there was an error, scoring one run. Edgewood then answered when Connor Morton singled off of Jameson Norris, driving in one run.
Edgewood took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Heckman uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run and Ryan Stuffle singled off of Heckman, driving in two runs.
Phillip Terrell earned the win for Edgewood. He tossed six innings, surrendering five runs, three hits, and striking out two. Curtis Cowden recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Edgewood. Heckman took the loss for Owen Valley. He went three and a third innings, surrendering six runs, six hits, striking out one, and walking one.
Edgewood had eight hits in the game. Tanner Kolbe and Joe Kido each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Kido and Kolbe each managed two hits to lead Edgewood.
