Meet Recap

SPENCER — Owen Valley got the medalist, but Edgewood got the win as both teams opened their girls’ golf season on Thursday at Rolling Meadows.

Edgewood scored a 215-228 victory despite the Patriots’ Mariah Summers leading the way individually with a 45.

Kailea Covey shot 50 to lead the Mustangs.

“Kailea could’ve easily been lower, but she had a couple bad holes,” Edgewood coach Gerry Lee said.

Gracie Turner had a 51, her best varsity score, and freshman Maddie Deckard debuted with a 54.

“All in all not bad,” Lee said. “We’ve got some things to work on, find out our weaknesses and work on them.”

Kelsey Potts carded a 54, but no other Patriot broke 60.

Edgewood plays Monday at Sullivan.
