Comments from Edgewood coach Doug Uhls: As expected, this was anybody’s match. It really came down to a handful of points. #2 Doubles was very close, and #2 Singles was the deciding match which lasted about 3 hours. Houston (#3 singles) is getting mentally tougher and should be confident in his play as he rallied back for a 3-set win. Evan (#2 singles) played his best match of the season, so it’s not fun to lose those. He just has to play with that effort every time out. Lost in the shuffle was a great comeback from 2-5 in the 1st set by #1 doubles to roll and win 10 of the last 12 games in their match.
Last comment: West Vigo’s #2 singles player is just a freshman. This match was a joy to watch on both sides. They both played at a high level. I’d love to watch Dylan play in a couple of years, as long as it’s not against us!
