Every point was needed on Thursday night as the Mustangs squeaked by the visiting Braves from Indian Creek, 67-64. This was our first official dual meet of the season. I love meets like these because all the kids get to compete and be celebrated. Unfortunately, with the wacky weather this year, we have had 2 other dual meets cancelled so I was very happy to get this meet in.
A much improved team from IC showed up to the Corral on an overcast, yet at times, sunny night and they were ready to compete. After a short workout on Wednesday, the Boys from The Wood were ready to compete also. A 3 point win and 41 PR’s on the evening proved that!
Started off with our 4×8 team. The team of Gough, Gough, Hinson and Kohne had a nice run but were short of a season PR by about 12 seconds and finished in 2nd place.
We were able to unleash all the horse power in this one as we had 12 kids compete on the evening. Junior Captain Z Raake led the charge and was just shy of his RP in the event, winning with a time of 11.52. He was followed closely by Seniors Blake Love (11.74) and B Scaheff (12.00). The mile showcased 2 Mustangs, both juniors, Elijah Gill and Anthony Richardson ran season PR’s with times of 5:31.54…….Yes, that right, according to the official results, both Stangs crossed the line at the same time, to the 100th of a second. WILD!!!
The lone Stallion in the stable for the Stangs in the 2 Mile was freshman Josh Kohne and holy moly did the young man respond!! Josh ran a season PR of 11:21.83 which is awesome. Then realize he PR’s by over 30 seconds, T H I R T Y seconds!! WOW!!!!!

Freshman Richey Maloney also PR’d with a sub 22 second run of 21.99. Miles Laubsch also ran well and finished in a time of 22.26. All 3 did just that in what ended up being a tremendous night for the Stangs!
