The Edgewood Freshmen won their opening game in the annual John Foutch Memorial Tournament, defeating Shoals 41 – 34. The Mustangs used a well-balanced team effort, combined with hitting enough free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
Landon Ringler started the game off well, hitting his first 2 shots to put Edgewood up 5 – 0. James Faulkenburg hit two big 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter, then Zeke Powell and Shane Wickens each had 6 points in the 4th quarter to seal the win.
Powell and Sean Campbell led the Mustangs with 9 points each, followed by Wickens and Ringler with 8 apiece. Faulkenburg finished with 6 points, and Ethan Jackson had 1 to complete the scoring for Edgewood.
On the glass, Campbell led the way with 7 rebounds, while Faulkenburg had 5 and Powell 4.
