The Edgewood JV won their second lopsided game of the week in a foul-plagued 58 – 38 victory over visiting South Putnam. The Mustangs’ defense limited the Eagles to just 11 first half points, including only 2 in the second quarter to head into the locker room at the half with a comfortable 20-point lead. Edgewood was able to maintain their lead throughout the 2nd half, which devolved into a free-throw fest, as a total of 41 fouls were called and 51 combined free throws were shot for the game.

Nine different Mustangs scored in a well-balanced offensive performance, led by Jalin White with 14 points, Xander Hammonds and Zach Sims with 11 points each, and Brayden Robinson with 9. Rounding out the scoring for Edgewood was Joe West with 5 points, Ashton Moore with 3, Josh Webb and Nehemiah Yazzie with 2 apiece, and Nick McCullough with 1 point.

Webb and Hammonds led the rebounding effort, with 5 and 4 boards, respectively, and Robinson spearheading the defense by grabbing 5 steals.

The JV Mustangs next play on Thursday evening when they host rival Owen Valley.
