Edgewood took the lead late and defeated Bloomington South 4-3 on Saturday. The game was tied at three with Edgewood batting in the top of the sixth when singles by Luke Hayden and Evan Whitlow started the inning. After a sacrifice bunt by Logan Slabaugh, Joe Kido punches a ball through the drawn in Panther defense to tie the game back at 3-3. A walk to Ethan Vecrumba loaded the bases for Ryan Stuffle to take an RBI as he was hit by pitch and scores the decisive run to make the Mustangs victorious.
Bloomington South scored three runs in the fifth inning, but Edgewood still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive firepower by Bloomington South was led by Yeskie, Smethurst, and Gingerich, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Edgewood opened up scoring in the first inning. Ethan Vecrumba drove in one when he singled.
Curtis Cowden pitched Edgewood to victory. He lasted two innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one. Luke Hayden threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Hayden recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Edgewood.
DeMier took the loss for Bloomington South. He lasted two innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out two and walking one.
Cooper Thacker started the game for Edgewood. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out four. Franklin started the game for Bloomington South. He allowed one hit and one run over two innings, striking out four and walking one.
Edgewood had ten hits in the game. Evan Whitlow and Vecrumba all collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Vecrumba and Whitlow each managed two hits to lead Edgewood.
Gingerich went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bloomington South in hits.
