Edgewood Defeats Brown County, 6-3
Edgewood beat Brown County 6-3 on Tuesday.
In the second inning, Brown County got their offense started when Justin Partyka singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Edgewood knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning. Eli Snider’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Edgewood.
After Edgewood scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Brown County answered with two of their own. Edgewood scored when Harrison Pittsford doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Brown County then answered when Isaac Weddle reached on a dropped third strike.
Edgewood pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Josh Chasteen singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Luke Hayden earned the win for Edgewood. He went four innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out six and walking zero. Cooper Thacker threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Thacker recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for Edgewood.
Snider took the loss for Brown County. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking zero.
Edgewood saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Pittsford and Curtis Cowden each had multiple hits for Edgewood. Cowden and Pittsford each collected two hits to lead Edgewood. Cowden led Edgewood with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.
