Edgewood snatched the lead late in the game in a 10-8 victory over Cascade on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Edgewood batting in the top of the eighth when Josh Chasteen singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Edgewood was boosted by Coleman Sater who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Sater doubled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the fifth, and doubled in the eighth.
In the second inning, Edgewood got their offense started. Harrison Pittsford’s sac fly scored one run for Edgewood.
Cascade evened things up at seven in the bottom of the seventh inning when Bryson Phillips singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Curtis Cowden got the win for Edgewood. He went two innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out one. Ethan Vecrumba threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jared Stephenson took the loss for Cascade. He allowed two hits and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking zero.
Dane DuBois started the game for Cascade. He went one inning, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Joe Kido started the game for Edgewood. He lasted three innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out one and walking zero.
Edgewood racked up 14 hits in the game. Sater, Kido, Vecrumba, and Chasteen all collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Sater went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Edgewood in hits.
Cascade had nine hits in the game. DuBois, Ross Stephenson, and Connor Horning all managed multiple hits for Cascade.
