Edgewood knocked in 13 runs in the fourth on its way to a 17-1 victory over Owen Valley on Wednesday. Edgewood offense in the inning was led by Sam Kido, Ryan Stuffle, Josh Chasteen, Curtis Cowden, Coleman Sater, and Kido, all knocking in runs in the inning.
In the first inning, Owen Valley got their offense started. Luke Hayden’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Owen Valley.
Edgewood pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Stuffle singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run and Chasteen doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
Edgewood notched 13 runs in the fourth inning. Edgewood put the pressure on, lead by singles by Kido, Stuffle, Ethan Vecrumba, and Chasteen, walks by Chasteen and Cowden, groundouts by Sater and Joe Kido, by Cowden, a fielder’s choice by Kido, and an error on a ball put in play by Sater.
Hayden took the win for Edgewood. He allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out eight. Cooper Thacker threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Jameson Norris took the loss for Owen Valley. He allowed nine hits and nine runs over three innings, striking out three.
Edgewood had 13 hits in the game. Thacker, Stuffle, Vecrumba, and Chasteen all managed multiple hits for Edgewood. Thacker went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Edgewood in hits. Edgewood didn’t commit a single error in the field. Dylan Johnson had the most chances in the field with six.
