Thursday’s game against Northview was a heartbreaker for Edgewood, as they lost the lead late in a 10-7 defeat. The game was tied at seven with Northview batting in the top of the sixth when Trey Shaw singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Edgewood collected 12 hits and Northview had ten in the high-scoring affair.
Edgewood took an early lead in the second inning. Edgewood scored two runs when Coleman Sater homered.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Edgewood tied things up at seven when Ryan Stuffle grounded out, scoring one run.
Edgewood notched four runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by Edgewood was led by Curtis Cowden, Sater, and Joe Kido, all driving in runs in the inning.
Northview scored six runs in the third inning. Braydon Tucker, Gavin Moore, and Andrew Osborn each drove in runs during the inning.
Brigham Booe was credited with the victory for Northview. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. Moore and Benjamin Goshen entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Cowden took the loss for Edgewood. He went two innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out two and walking zero.
Cooper Thacker started the game for Edgewood. He allowed five hits and seven runs over two and a third innings, striking out two.
Edgewood collected 12 hits on the day. Kido, Cowden, and Sater each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Kido led Edgewood with three hits in four at bats.
Booe went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Northview in hits.
