On a night when their shots weren’t falling, the 3A #6 ranked Edgewood Mustangs still found a way to remain undefeated in a tough 52 – 48 victory over visiting Indian Creek. Coming in to the game shooting 50% from the 3-point line, Edgewood was 0 for 13 from long range until Kyle Rogers got one to go late in the 3rd quarter. Rogers was only Mustang to connect from outside for the night, and he hit two more big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to spark his team to victory.
While Trevor Taylor wasn’t able to get untracked from 3-point range, he was able to score off numerous drives to the basket and mid-range jumpers on his way to a game-high 23 points to once again lead Edgewood’s attack.
In addition to his 3-pointers, Rogers added 2 layups for a total of 13 points, while Houston Holmes came off the bench and made his presence felt with 8 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Completing the scoring for the Mustangs was Coleman Sater with 4 points, and Cam Banister and Joe Kido with 2 points each.
With the win, Edgewood moved to 3 – 0 in the WIC-East and 6 – 0 overall, and will try to continue their winning ways in a Saturday night contest at North Knox.
