The 3A #3 Edgewood Mustangs jumped out to a fast start–scoring the first 10 points of the game on the way to a 16 – 4 1st quarter lead– then held off numerous rallies to post a 62 – 46 victory at Sullivan. Edgewood played much of the game without their two leading scorers and rebounders, as Trevor Taylor was hampered by foul trouble and Coleman Sater played limited minutes after sustaining a hard hit on the nose in the opening minutes.
In their absence, the Mustangs prevailed with a very balanced scoring effort, led by Joe Kido and Houston Holmes with 12 points each. In addition, Cam Banister scored 10 points, while Derek Farkas and Tate Balcam chipped in 9 points apiece. Completing the scoring for Edgewood was Taylor with 7 points and Kyle Rogers with 3.
The next game for the Mustangs is on Tuesday, December 26 at 7:00 against Parke Heritage, when they begin their quest to defend the title they won last year in the Wabash Valley Classic in Terre Haute.
