Any hopes that Bloomfield (who came in ranked #2 in 1A) had of upsetting Edgewood (who came in ranked #10 in 3A) were quelled early, as the Mustangs came out of the gate firing, putting the visiting Cardinals away early in a 74 – 55 victory. Trevor Taylor (5) and Joe Kido (2) combined to shoot 7 for 7 from the 3-point line in the first quarter and staked Edgewood to a lead that was never seriously challenged.
In the scoring column, the Mustangs were led by standout sophomores Taylor and Coleman Sater with 32 and 26 points, respectively, as the duo combined to outscore the Cardinals by themselves.
In addition, Kido finished with 10 points, Kyle Rogers added 4 points, and Cam Banister 2 points to round out the scoring for the Mustangs.
Edgewood returns to the hardwood next Friday, December 14 in a key WIC-East showdown with Indian Creek at the Mustang Corral.
