Injuries, foul trouble and a hot-shooting opponent were more than Edgewood could overcome in a tough 64 – 59 loss at Greencastle. Playing without defensive specialists Cam Banister and Tate Balcam, the Mustangs allowed the Tiger Cubs to shoot nearly 60% from the field (22 for 37). Edgewood didn’t shoot poorly themselves at nearly 48%, but wasn’t quite able to put enough defensive stops together to earn the win.
Chayton Howard led the Mustangs with 18 points, while Trevor Taylor added 14 and Parker Harrington 9. In addition, Joe Kido and Caleb Norris scored 6 points each, Coleman Sater chipped in 3 points, Jace Collier had 2, and Derek Farkas scored 1 point to round out the scoring for Edgewood.
Howard and Harrington led the Mustangs’ rebounding effort with 6 each, and Taylor passed out 7 assists to lead that category.
Edgewood completes its regular season on Thursday night at Eastern Greene before opening sectional play against Brown Co. next Tuesday at Northview.
