On Friday night, the Edgewood Mustangs opened their new red turf field with a 42-14 loss to the visiting Northview Knights. The Mustangs played hard but just came up a little bit short on the evening.
Both teams played to a scoreless tie at the end of the first quarter, exchanging punts through out the quarter. In the second quarter, Northview scored on a short pass, then long run to make the score 7-0. After another Edgewood turnover, the Knights were able to score again making it 14-0 at half.
In the second half the Knights extended the lead and went on to win the game. It wasn’t from a lack of effort for the Mustangs. David Brown and Schuyler Curtis, led the Mustangs on offense through out the night.
Next week, the Mustangs will travel to Cloverdale to take on the Clovers at 7:00 on Friday.
