On Friday night, the Edgewood Mustangs hosted the visiting Owen Valley Patriots in a conference battle for the Black and Blue Trophy. While both teams started out on fire, with an offensive touchdown from Edgewood and a kick return for a touchdown by both Edgewood and Owen Valley, the Mustangs quickly pulled away after that and won in a convincing fashion.
Edgewood was led by Senior Levon Bellemy with 10 carries for 192 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Equally impressive was Junior John McGlothlin. He was able to rush for 2 touchdowns and receive a touchdown pass from Schuyler Curtis for his 3rd touchdown on the night.
For a second straight game, the Edgewood Defense posted a shutout. The only points Owen Valley could score was on the Kick Return in the first quarter.
Edgewood will be in action again this Friday night as they travel to South Putnam High School at 7:00.
