Jacob Hupp fired a 39 to win medalist honors and lead Edgewood past Brown County, 180-190, on Thursday in boys’ golf.
What could be Hupp’s career-best round came in the regular-season finale on the Pine 9 at Cascades.
“That’s kind of cool to see Jacob break 40,” Edgewood coach Garry Lee said. “I don’t know if he’s done that before. It’s nice to see him trending down as we’re getting closer to the sectional.”
Jackson Wendel added a 42, Noah Brooks shot 47 and Tyler Smith 52 on Senior Day.
“Wendel had a couple double bogeys, and that just kills your round,” Lee said. “It’s the first time we’ve played in a week, because of rain and school, so I was figuring our scores would be higher than normal.”
Parker VanNess led Brown County with a 42.
Edgewood and Brown County will compete next in the Bloomington North Sectional on June 4 at the Bloomington Country Club.
