The rain held off Thursday, and the Edgewood boys’ golf team made the most of the opportunity to claim a 174-198 win over Monrovia on the Pine Course at Cascades.
Jackson Wendel and Brandt Guthrie shared medalist honors with a pair of 40s, despite a late swoon.
“They were neck and neck, just kind of made some silly bogeys the last two or three holes,” Mustangs coach Garry Lee said.
Other counting scores for Edgewood were a pair of 47s from Owen Young and Parker Harrington.
“I was glad to see Parker kind of collect himself after three double bogeys in a row,” Lee said. “Owen just struggled with some approach shots.”
The match was a final tuneup for the Western Indiana Conference Tournament on Saturday at Rolling Meadows.
“Hopefully we can find something to improve a little bit between now and Saturday,” Lee said.
