BEDFORD — The Edgewood boys’ golf team was nothing, if not consistent, on Thursday night.
The Mustangs got a 44 from Jackson Wendel, 45s from Noah Brooks and Landon Ringler and a 48 from Jacob Hupp to shoot a 182 in a three-way meet with Bedford North Lawrence and Brownstown at Otis Park.
The host Stars won the match with a 158, while their B team posted a 176 followed by Edgewood and Brownstown’s 199. BNL’s Corbin Bushey was medalist with a 37.
“Jackson just had a couple bad holes that made his score look worse than it was,” Mustangs coach Garry Lee said. “Jacob had a triple bogey on No. 9. There were just one or two holes where each kid needed to make 5 instead of 7 or 8 so we’d be in the 170s.
“We’ve got to work on not throwing shots away. We missed too many greens from 100 yards and in.”
Ringler was the notable exception, following up a 49 at home on Wednesday with Thursday’s round of 45.
“That’s four to six shots lower than he’s been shooting, so let’s hope he keeps that up,” Lee said. “He hit the ball pretty good, and it wasn’t at home, so that’s even more of a bright spot.”
Edgewood returns to action Saturday in the North Invitational at Cascades.
