Clay City got a 37 from Drew Steward to earn medalist honors and top Edgewood, 166-177 at Cascades’ Pine nine in boys’ golf on Monday.
Turner Royal had a 39 for Bloomfield, which had just two players, while Jackson Wendel had a 40 and Landon Ringler a 44 to pace the Mustangs.
“Landon had some things go right tonight,” Edgewood coach Garry Lee said. “He had a triple bogey on the one par-5 and still had a 44. He had a lot of pars tonight, which is kind of key for him. Wendel kind of struggled to start and never recovered from it.
“It seems like we take two steps forward and two steps back. We’ve been playing better than that. We’re finally back at home and kind of flub ourselves little bit. We’ve not broken 170 yet this year, but we’ve got a whole week to practice now.”
