Edgewood took one more step toward their goal of repeating as Sectional Champs with a 55 – 39 win over West Vigo. The Mustangs once again overcame a slow start, clamping down on defense after halftime to gradually pull away from the Vikings. Edgewood only allowed 11 points in the 2nd half, including only 3 in the final period to move on to Saturday night’s championship game against Sectional host Owen Valley.
Coleman Sater tied his career high with 26 points to lead the Mustangs, while Cam Banister added 13 and Trevor Taylor scored 8. In addition, Derek Farkas scored 5 points, Tate Balcam had 2, and Joe Kido had 1 point to complete the scoring for Edgewood.
Tonight’s victory also marked the 2nd season in a row the Mustangs achieved 20 wins, pushing their record to 20 – 5 on the season.
