The Edgewood Mustangs opened their title defense of the Wabash Valley Classic and used a strong 2nd half to come away with a convincing 74 – 41 victory over Parke Heritage. After a sluggish first half, Edgewood dialed up the defensive intensity following the break and limited their opponents to only 15 points in the 2nd half.
Trevor Taylor, Tate Balcam, and Derek Farkas led a balanced Mustangs attack with 14 points each, while Coleman Sater added 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. In all, 9 of the 10 Edgewood players who saw action reached the scoring column, including Kyle Rogers with 6 points, Cam Banister with 5, Joe Kido and Houston Holmes with 4 apiece, and Logan Slabaugh with 2.
The 3A #3 Mustangs will put their 9 – 0 record on the line again at the Classic in Terre Haute at 8:30 on Thursday evening against Terre Haute North.
