Saturday’s game against Bloomington North was back and forth until the Cougars broke the game open late to down the Mustangs. The game was tied at two with Bloomington North batting in the bottom of the fifth when Dylan Steele singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Bloomington North got things started in the first inning when Steele doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Steele was the winning pitcher for Bloomington North. He allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking one. Harry Deliyannis and Sam Klein entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Cooper Thacker took the loss for Edgewood. He went five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking one.
Edgewood launched one home run on the day. Ethan Vecrumba went yard in the seventh inning.
Sam Kido led Edgewood with two hits in two at bats.
Bloomington North tallied nine hits in the game. Aaron Steinfeldt, Steele, and Deliyannis each racked up multiple hits for Bloomington North. Steinfeldt went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Bloomington North in hits.
