A lack of defensive rebounding spelled disaster for the Edgewood Freshmen in a disappointing 51 – 43 loss to Indian Creek in the championship game of the John Foutch tournament.
The Mustangs were sluggish through the first half, but rallied to take the lead after 3 quarters and looked like they were on the way to victory, but numerous offensive rebounds by Indian Creek down the stretch kept them in the game and eventually made the difference.
Offensively, Zach Sims led the Mustang attack with 20 points, while Mason Ranard added 7. Completing the scoring for Edgewood was Mialin White with 5 points, Ziggy Teran with 4, Jacob Boggs with 3 points, and Grant Coffey and Mack Headdy had 2 points each.
Boggs led the rebounding effort with 5, while Ranard, Teran, and Sims all had 3 apiece.
The Freshmen Mustangs have another quick turnaround as they host Linton on Monday evening.
