SPRINGVILLE — The Edgewood boys’ golf team put a bow on the 2019 regular season Monday night, posting a 163-198 win over Eastern Greene at Hidden Hills.
The Mustangs’ Brandt Guthrie and Landon Ringler shared medalist honors with a 39.
“They’ve both been solid,” Edgewood coach Garry Lee said. “When you don’t have to go search for your ball, it’s easier to hit greens. Landon had eagle putts on both par-5s and left himself tap-in birdies. He just had a couple wayward shots that kept him from even par.
“Brandt had about three lip-outs that would’ve made it a 36 or 37.”
Jackson Wendel added a 41 and Parker Harrington a 44.
Owen Young had a 46, but in the biggest turnaround of the night, started 10-over on the first four holes and played the final five in even-par.
“The last few holes, he remembers some swing thoughts we discussed and started hitting the ball like he was a few weeks ago,” Lee said. “I’m pleased with the night, and I’d love to see us do something similar at the Country Club here in a couple weeks (at the sectional), but that’s a whole different animal.”
