The Edgewood JV led from start to finish in an exciting 56 – 53 victory at Bloomington South. The Mustangs were the most aggressive team for most of the night, combining strong drives to the basket with timely 3-point shooting, and getting just enough defensive stops to post the win.
Edgewood got contributions from up and down the lineup, with all 9 players who saw action reaching the scoring column. The Mustangs were led by Zeke Powell’s 17 points (in only 2 quarters of play) and Jace Utley’s 11 (also in only 2 quarters).
In addition, Sean Sims scored 8 points while a trio of Edgewood players – Caden Huttenlocker, Brayden Robinson, and Henry Doering– added 4 points each. Finally, Aiden Georges scored 3 points, as did Cayden Howard (before leaving with an injury), and Landon Ringer had 2 points to complete the scoring for the Mustangs.
Edgewood was led in rebounding by Doering and Georges, who pulled down 6 and 5 respectively.
Congratulations to the JV Mustangs and to Coach Brad Moorhead on his first career victory! Edgewood will look to continue their early success as they host Martinsville on Saturday evening.
