The Mustang JV’s shooting was as cold as the weather outside, but they refused to quit fighting and claimed an exciting come-from-behind overtime victory at Orleans, 45 – 43. Trailing by 10 to start the 4th quarter, Edgewood battled back to tie the game at the end of regulation, and hit just enough of their free throws to seal the win in the overtime period.
For the game, the Mustangs shot a chili 34% (10/29) from 2-pt range, an icy 22% (4/18) from 3-pt range, and a meager 46% (12/26) from the FT line. Still, they hung tough and found a way to win even though their shots weren’t falling.
Jalin White and Brayden Robinson led the Edgewood attack, with 17 and 15 points respectively. In addition, three Mustangs — Xander Hammonds, Zach Sims, and Nick McCullough — had 3 points each, while Joe West and Josh Webb both added 2 points.
McCullough grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, and Robinson added 5, while Hammonds came up with 7 steals, and White had 4 to lead those categories for the Mustangs.
