The good news was that Edgewood started out the game on a torrid shooting pace — knocking down 7 of their 8 first-quarter attempts, including a trio of 3-pointers from Zeke Powell and an equal number of 2-pointers from Caden Huttenlocker. The bad news was that they were still down one to an equally hot-shooting Orleans squad. The Mustangs stayed with it, however, and pulled out a much-needed 55 – 50 victory over the host Bulldogs.
Edgewood continued to shoot well the entire game — connecting on 11 of 17 from 2-pt range, 6 of 11 from 3-pt range, and 15 of 19 from the FT line. The Mustangs needed every bit of their marksmanship, because Orleans made 10 of 14 of their 3-point attempts for the game.
Powell and Huttenlocker led Edgewood with 22 points apiece. Coleman Sater was hampered by foul trouble but still added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Finally, Landon Ringler had 2 points, and Henry Doering had 1 to complete the scoring for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs are next scheduled to play on Tuesday evening when they travel to Northview.
