After a strong start to the game that had Edgewood leading by a point after the first quarter, a second quarter in which the Mustangs were outscored 19 – 1 proved to be their undoing in a 68 – 41 loss to Bloomington North.
On the night, Edgewood was able to connect on only 28% of their shots (including 22% from 3-point range) against the Cougars’ stingy defense, and were unable to compete on the boards against their bigger and stronger opponents, as Bloomington North got offensive rebounds on 12 of their 24 missed shots.
Trevor Taylor led Edgewood with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Coleman Sater scored 10 points and also grabbed 6 boards. Completing the scoring for the Mustangs was Zeke Powell with 4 points, Parker Harrington and Sean Sims with 3 points each, Derek Farkas with 2 points, and Caden Huttenlocker with 1 point.
Edgewood next plays on Saturday, February 15 when they host Orleans.
