On Tuesday night, the Lady Mustangs traveled to Bedford for a dual meet against Bedford North Lawrence. It was a highly competitive evening with the Mustangs coming out on top. This was very impressive considering we were running girls in different events than they normally run. It was a training meet for the girls, but still a meet we wanted to win.

The ladies had a really good night in the field events. In the high jump, Senior Maddie Hartley was able to place 2nd with a jump of 4-6. She was able to tie her personal best on the year. She is so close to 4-8. I believe she will climb that mountain soon. In the long jump, the Mustangs were able to finish 1st and 2nd. Junior Kaylee Meyer won the long jump with a new personal best of 14-8.50. She continues to improve everyday. In 2nd, freshman Elizabeth Bolander jumped 12-5. While it wasn’t her best, it was good enough to finish 2nd. In Pole Vault, Sophomore Emma Coffey was able to win with a vault of 7-6.

In Discus, the Mustangs were able to sweep the field on the night. Sophomore Daphanie Ehrmann threw a personal best of 97-6 to place 1st, Senior Alex Huebner threw 92-11 to place 2nd and Senior Jordan Jones threw 90-1 to place 3rd. A great night in Disc. This even really propelled the team to a win. In shot, Junior Paige Lawson was able to finish 3rd with a throw of 29-2.

In the running races the ladies ran really well. They started off the evening winning the 4×800 (Crain, Meyer, Werner, Foster) with a time 10:27.46. In the 100 Hurdles, Elizabeth Bolander ran a new personal best with a time of 19.08. She was able to place 2nd in the race. In the 100, Emily Kovach was able to place 2nd and Freshman Jade Flora was able to place 4th.

In the 1600, Junior Kaylee Meyer won the race with a time of 5:39. This was the first time she ran the 1600 on the year and ran really well. She was followed by freshman Sarah Foster with a time of 6:02. This placed her second. In the 400, freshmen Annalyssa Crain was able to win with a time of 1:05.28. This was the first time she has ever run this race and was able to win. It was a very impressive race by her. In the 300 Hurdles, Elizabeth Bolander and Emma Coffey placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The 800 was the race of the night. Freshmen Annalyssa Crain and Olivia Werner battled the entire two laps. Both of the girls ran great races and were able to place 1st and 2nd. Annalyssa was able to edge out Olivia right at the end. Annalyssa ran a time of 2:25.50 and Olivia ran a 2:25.58. It was a great race by both girls. In the 200 Emily Kovach placed 3rd overall with a new personal best of 31.02.

Finally in the 3200, freshman Sarah Foster was able to win the race with a time of 13:06 with Bailey White finishing 3rd with a time of 14:09. To end the night the 4×400 team (Meyer, Deckard, Crain, Werner) won the race with a time of 4:29.

Overall, even though it was a training night and we had several girls out sick and injured, the ladies were able to pull through and win a great meet. We now turn our attention to the Mustang Invitational this Saturday at home. The meet starts at 10:30.
