It was truly a great night for the Mustangs on Friday night. The ladies went up to Park Tudor for the Small School Showcase seeded to finish 2nd overall. With some great performances and a motivated group of girls, they were able to pull out a victory by 3.5 points.
To start off the night, the 4×400 team of Alyssa Milah, Kaylee Meyer, Elizabeth Bolander and Olivia Werner won the race by 15 seconds with a time of 4:17.12. The next race had Freshmen Annalyssa Crain and Sarah Foster in the 1600. Annalyssa won the race with a time of 5:14.70, which was a new personal best, and Sarah was able to pull out a 6th place finish with a time of 5:59.
The 4×100 team of Kailea Covey, SImone Brantley, Emma Coffey and Emily Kovach were able to place 5th in the race with a time of 54.96. This was also a new personal best for the year. Next, Sophomore Alyssa Milah won the 400 by nearly 3 seconds over the next competitor. She won with a time of 1:01.03. Following the 400, Kaylee Meyer ran and won the 800 with a time of 2:28.61. She was able to win the race by 4 seconds while also setting a new personal best. In the 1200, freshman Annalyssa Crain set a new meet record, winning with a time of 3:51.52.
In the 300 Hurdles, Freshman Elizabeth Bolander and Sophomore Emma Coffey were able to finsih 3rd and 4th respectively. Both girls finished in front of what they were seeded. In the 800 Sprint Medley, the team of Kovach, Covey, Deckard and Milah were able to improve their seed by 5 spots to finish 3rd overall. In the final running event of the night, the 4×800 (Crain, Meyer, Werner, Foster) team cruised to a victory with a time of 10:23. The second place team finished with a time of 11:48.
In the field events, Maddie Hartley and Riley Smith were able to place 4th and 7th respectively. Both of the girls tied their Personal Best for the season. In the long jump, Junior Kaylee Meyer was able to finish 4th with a jump of 14-1. This was also a new personal best. In the throws, Seniors Taylor Acuff and Jordan Jones were able to finish 5th and 8th respectively in Discus. While in the shot put, Taylor Acuff finished 5th as well.
Overall it was a GREAT night for the ladies. Going to Park Tudor, they only had one goal. It was to bring home the trophy. It took every athlete we brought to win. It was a great night for all.
