On Tuesday, the Lady Mustangs traveled to Bloomington North to compete in Sectionals. As a team the Mustangs had a really strong performance, finishing 3rd. Individually, if an athlete places in the top 3 they automatically move on to the regionals next week. If the time is good enough, they also have a chance of reaching regionals if they are the next 4 in as well.

To start off the meet, the 4×800 team (Crain, Meyer, Deckard, Werner) finished 3rd with a time of 10:10.68. In the 1600 meter run, Kaylee Meyer was able to place 4th with a strong finish to the race. Her time was 5:31. In the 400 dash, Alyssa Milah placed second with a time of 1:01.30.

In the 800, Olivia Werner ran a time of 2:25.35. In a very close race she placed 3rd. The top 4 places were all with in 2 seconds of each other. In the 3200, Annalyssa Crain broke a sectional record in winning the race with a time of 10:59.33. To close out the night for the running events, the 4×400 team (Werner, Meyer, Milah, Bolander) was able to place 2nd with a time of 4:17.

In the field events the Mustangs had several great performances as well. In the Pole Vault, Emma Coffey placed 2nd with a vault of 9-0. In the Disc, Taylor Acuff placed 5th and Daphanie Ehrmann placed 6th. With these throws, each of them have a chance to qualify to Regionals. In the Shot Put, Taylor Acuff placed 3rd with a throw of 38-1. This was a season best for her. Paige Lawson also threw a season best with a 33-00. This placed her 7th.

Regionals will be held next week at Bloomington North High School on Tuesday at 6:00.
