It was a long night for the Mustangs on April 10th. The ladies came out and ran and competed with their best effort, but just came up a little short overall. Even with that, there were several great performances on the night.
In the 400, Sophomore Alyssa Milah won the race by nearly 4 seconds with a time of 1:02.77. Early in the season, this is a great time and has her on pace to break the 60 second barrier. In the 800, Junior Kaylee Meyer won with a time of 2:37.01. While this wasn’t her fastest time of the season, she was still able to win the race by almost 6 seconds. Freshman Annalyssa Crain, ran great again tonight. She was able to win the 1600, 3200 and the 4×800 easily in each race. She is really gaining momentum as the season continues. I believe we will be seeing a lot of special things from her as the season continues. I
In the 300 Hurdles, freshmen Elizabeth Bolander was able to PR by running a 54.97. This placed her 4th in the race. In the relays, the Mustangs were able to win both the 4×800 (Meyer, Werner, Crain, White) and the 4×400 (Meyer, Milah, Bolander, Deckard). They also placed 3rd in the 4×100 (Covey, Coffey, Brantley, Kovach).
In the field events, Emma Coffey was able to place 2nd in the pole vault with a jump of 8-0. Senior Taylor Acuff, was able to place 2nd in the Discus with a throw of 94-8.
While it was a tough night for the team, there were many positives to the night. The Mustangs will continue to improve as the season progresses.
